Carrie Wild | time/LAPSE

“I've always been fascinated by the color that is created by the natural world and how that color and light surround and communicate with wild subjects within the landscape. I use my observations to translate my experiences through the application of dramatic colors and presence while maintaining realistic confirmation of the animal.” -Carrie Wild

As witness to the wonders of nature and the countless heart pounding moments, Carrie Wild translates her experiences through the application of vivid colors and dynamic movement on her canvases. "My new collection time/LAPSE focuses on the exploration of the passage of time through color, form and texture. New works include pieces that represent a visual timeline of my career while allowing room for new directions and fresh moments to form”, says Wild. With her contemporary style she hopes to create a relationship between the painting and its viewer as well as encourage a love for wildlife and wildlife art in modern design.

Wild’s popular ‘Rendezvous’ series was originally inspired by the herd dynamics in North American bison. Watching bison herds in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park, the artist was infatuated by the ways that the individual relationships with the animals and their surroundings affect the collective. ‘Rendezvous’ explores the extent to which the subjects can be simplified without losing each one’s individuality, personality, and their relationships. The series has recently expanded to include horses, bears, and cactus, with more variations on the horizon. When asked about her biggest motivations for creating new work, Wild says, “I have a deep down need to create and keep ideas flowing, it's part of me. Life consistently provides visual ideas that trigger thoughts of how my observations can fit together to create a new work of art.”

Carrie Wild is based in Jackson, Wyoming. Surrounded by the inspiration of wildlife, horses and wide-open spaces of the Teton valley, Carrie pulls the wildness of the outside in for her collectors as she paints in her studio downtown Jackson Hole.  Carrie’s work has appeared in national publications including Western Art & Architecture, Big Sky Journal, Southwest Art and Cowboys & Indians magazines.
