Altamira Fine Art Scottsdale is pleased to present a new exhibition for Rudi Broschofsky, April 2-13, 2024.
Please join us for the Artist Reception Thursday, April 4, 7-9pm and Meet the Artist.
Rudi Broschofsky's artistic journey navigates the intriguing intersection of representation and abstraction. Adopting a Street Art approach within the realm of Western Art, his process stands as a unique fusion of two distinct genres. Using the challenging medium of spray paint, Rudi is able to attain bold subjects and crisp lines through his calculated and recognizable stencil designs. Hand cutting these elaborate stencils with an X-Acto knife is time consuming and it can take several months to craft a single image. Up close his subject matter appears nonrepresentational, but as one steps back the composition becomes apparent.
"My favorite part of the process is cutting the last few lines of a stencil and switching gears to spray painting and watching it all come alive", the artist says.
Rudi's artistic narrative is undeniably woven into the fabric of his upbringing. Raised amidst art, he was immersed in the world of Western Art as his parents opened Broschofsky Galleries in 1987 when he was a young child. Surrounded by a diverse array of Western masters, from Edward Curtis's iconic turn-of-the-century photographs to Andy Warhol's Pop Art, Rudi's artistic choices bear the embedded imprint of this eclectic influence.
