“Vintage cameras are so interesting to me because they are a symbol of capturing the journey of the lives of those that have owned them. It makes me stop to imagine what has been viewed through each lens." - Scott Yelonek
Retrovision
Utilizing the rich history of rural Utah, Scott finds inspiration in forgotten and discarded items from a bygone era. In Retrovision, the artist’s muse is the vintage camera - the details and history of which he uses to extract their unique character and charm, thus facilitating an emotional connection with the viewer. Overlooked items become repurposed into works of art. “The reflections in the lens, the distinct typography, the weathered texture on the grip; each one has its own personality and story to be shared”, says Yelonek.
Scott works in both oil and watercolor and is inspired by the character and detail of his subjects. The subtle nuances of these pieces are captured seamlessly by his photorealistic style, which he has honed for over twenty-four years. After receiving his degree and his training under a wide array of artists, Scott has enjoyed successful careers in both graphic design and painting. His inspiration to create new works are motivated by the joy it brings others and hearing about the unique ways his paintings resonate with the viewer.
