Desert Muse Group Exhibition
In celebration of Spring, Altamira Fine Art Scottsdale offers a small group exhibition combining four stellar artists’ works. Each one has a unique and distinctive style, and they tell their story through the lens of desert as muse.
Dennis Ziemienski juxtaposes the classic cowboy life with the increasing influence of Modernism. His new body of work explores quintessential scenes of the Sonoran Desert; a cowgirl riding a horse in front of a towering Saguaro, a cactus flower in full bloom, and the vibrant neon signs of popular haunts. The rich palette and strong compositions which evoke feelings of nostalgia and adventure are trademarks of the artist’s work.
Douglas Fryer is regarded for his richly textured, subtly abstracted landscapes. Using a variety of tools, techniques and media, he creates poetic works that inspire contemplation and reflection. In this exhibition, Fryer uses his ethereal style to perfectly capture the emotional draw of the serene landscapes that he paints large scale.
Jared Sanders travels the winding roads of the West for his inspiration. His masterful handling of paint allows him to portray the subtleties in his moody, tonalist landscapes. His skies are exquisite – luminous yet quietly potent. The artist’s reverence for the everyday contemporary West is evident in his work.
Timothy Horn looks for unexpected beauty in the everyday, using dramatic light to capture the mood of his subjects. In Desert Muse, he celebrates the romance of travel and exploration with his reflective Airstreams- capturing the charm and allure of the open road.
Desert Muse embodies the spirit of the West and the unique pull to the vastness of the desert; the light, the landscape and the adventures- through the eyes of four talented painters.
