A Place of Peace

My creative process begins with the observation and enjoyment of nature and the amazement of God’s design. The hidden subtle complexities and order can only be suggested in a simple and primitive way. I throw out an effort on the palette and canvas and leave the effects that work for me and scrape or cover the ones that don’t. You might say it is a collection of errors that slowly build a vocabulary of visual information, control, and order.“  -Robert Moore

Robert Moore’s work has the rare ability to feel both powerful and restorative. He invites us to fully immerse ourselves in the quiet moments of nature’s bounty. His paintings take us through the shifting seasons, capturing the essence of each one in a beautiful harmony. “I believe the universal appeal of the west is because of the spatial depth, the openness and the vistas that are so prevalent. This along with the unique shapes of the mountains, plants, and wildlife have become a source of delight and refreshment to our souls.”, Moore says.  The artist has a keen eye for finding dynamic shapes within the natural landscape and imbuing them with his signature rich texture and lively brushwork. He understands the West as a living, breathing place and his brushwork carries that energy; immediate, textured and full of light.  Yet, even in his most expressive compositions, there is a sense of calm and peace.

Robert Moore has become a leading impressionistic oil painter, represented across the country and lauded by Western art publications nationally. Moore earned a Bachelor of Science degree with teaching credentials in art from Eastern Oregon State College, before attending the ArtCenter College of Design in California, where he majored in illustration. True to his roots, Robert lives on a farm in Southern Idaho with his wife, Rebecca, and their six children. Immersed in the Snake River Basin, he is surrounded by the same scenery that first captivated him as a child, and his upbringing continues to drive his desire to share the beauty he sees in nature.
