“As I walk or snowshoe through the aspens, I am amazed at the wonderful balance of harmony, and the order within the variety and diversity. Each season presents new challenges to capture the myriad of color progressions and design potential.” - Robert Moore
Trees of the Field
Quiet and contemplative, Robert Moore’s soft spoken and calming presence stands in contrast to his painting’s dynamism. His rich palette is applied with impasto techniques that create strong compositions which captivate the viewer with their high energy. “My favorite part of the painting process is when the strokes of the pallet knife ignite one intensity against a related hue, and it gives birth to a correct relationship that transcends either of the individual colors on their own,” says Moore.
The artists motivation to create new works are two-fold: to experience the process of creating a piece of art that feels true and correct in its’ relationships, and then to control that process with intentionality. His use of vivid colors and high-keyed values reveal a joy inspired by his faith and the nature that surrounds him. With diligence and gratitude, he has become a leading impressionistic oil painter, represented across the country and lauded by Western art publications nationally.
Moore earned a Bachelor of Science degree with teaching credentials in art from Eastern Oregon State College, before attending the ArtCenter College of Design in California, where he majored in illustration. True to his roots, Robert lives on a farm in Southern Idaho with his wife, Rebecca, and their six children. Immersed in the Snake River Basin, he is surrounded by the same scenery that first captivated him as a child, and his upbringing continues to drive his desire to share the beauty he sees in nature.
